10 Reasons Why the More Than Pink Dinner Isn’t Just Another Dinner

Susan G. Komen San Diego’s More Than Pink Dinner is on Thursday, April 11th. To get you as excited as we are for this memorable evening, we’re sharing the top ten reasons you won’t want to miss this exclusive event benefiting breast cancer patients in San Diego.

1. Pink Party

While we’ll be celebrating what it means to be more than pink, it sure is fun to be a flamingo in a flock of pigeons. Live your best life and don your favorite fuchsia flare on a night out.

2. Pop up shop

Don’t fret if your closet is deprived of rose and blush tones, we’ll be debuting our first ever pop up boutique where you can shop for pink attire and accessories provided by Macy’s.

3. Experiential Art

Interact with large-scale exhibits that take you back in time to what it was like in the 1950s when you couldn’t say the word “breast” in the news; look at a cancer cell under a microscope and leave your mark on our words of wisdom wall.

4. The evening’s forecast: 99% chance of bubbles

Stop and smell the rosé… you’ll be sipping on pink cocktails and indulging in a champagne toast brought to you by Mike and Merrilee Neal.

5. Hear the unique tandem perspectives of both patient and physician

Haven’t you always wondered what it’s like to be on the side of the white coat? Guests will have the opportunity to walk through a survivor’s journey, while getting the unique dual perspective of both patient and oncologist.

Our program will showcase Marti Emerald, former City Councilwoman and breast cancer survivor, interviewing Lilian Vanvieldt-Gray, Komen San Diego’s honorary breast cancer survivor and her physician, Dr. Siavash Jabbari, Medical Director at Sharp’s Laurel Amtower Cancer Institute and Neuro-Oncology Center.

6. Not required to walk a 5k or for three days

Have you wanted to get involved with Komen and help save lives in San Diego, but don’t want to wake up early for our 5k or commit to blisters and camping for the 3-DAY? Join us for delectable cuisine in the comforts of the luxurious Hyatt Aventine.

7. Take a chance at our Jewelry Pull

When in doubt add more sparkle … each jewelry pull donation guarantees you’ll go home with a piece of jewelry donated by Jewels with a Purpose. Made in Italy, of the highest quality and fine finishes; with three layers of gold over sterling silver and top of the line gemstones, this stunning collection will have you leaving a trail of glitter to never be forgotten.

8. A New Location

This year’s event debuts at a new home! The 2019 More Than Pink Dinner will be held at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla at Aventine—the “go-to” place for the some of the best events in San Diego County.

9. Get inspired by this year’s Suzy Awardees

Mary Jean Anderson of Anderson Plumbing, Heating & Air, Boxer Capital, and Plaza Home Mortgage will be recognized for their contributions to the fight against breast cancer. Don’t miss this opportunity to show your support.

10. Six women today.

Here in San Diego, six women today and 186 more by the date of our event, will be told the words, “You have breast cancer.” One woman today and 31 more by April 11th will have lost their battle. Ensure breast cancer patients and their families in San Diego have a fighting chance. Reserve your table now.
