Carina Burns, Director of Corporate & Community Partnerships
Carina is a development professional with more than 10 years of experience in the nonprofit sector. She specializes in organizing special events, managing donor relations and working with volunteers, corporate sponsors and vendors. Prior to joining the Susan G. Komen San Diego team, she worked at La Jolla Playhouse where she served as Corporate Relations Manager. She also served as Special Events & Public Relations Manager at Seacrest Village Retirement Communities. A native of Chicago, she worked in fundraising for the Adler Planetarium, the National Kidney Foundation of Illinois, and the Alzheimer’s Association National Office.
Carina’s mom is a seven year breast cancer survivor. She knows firsthand that cancer doesn’t just affect the patient – it affects everyone around them. Carina and her daughters volunteer with Assisteens of Rancho San Dieguito and Girl Scouts San Diego. She is honored to raise funds for local programs and innovative research until we find a cure for breast cancer hopefully in this lifetime.
