Flora Hoang, Director of Corporate & Community Partnerships
Flora Hoang is the Director of Corporate & Community Partnerships for Susan G. Komen in San Diego County. Her grandmother passed away from breast cancer more than a decade ago and since then two of her great aunts were diagnosed with breast cancer in its early stages. Breast cancer overpowered her world for many years and her way of continuing the fight against the disease was to get involved with the community to help spread the word about the importance of raising money for breast cancer research. Flora volunteered her time with Komen San Diego and began walking in the infamous 3-Day 60 mile journey – this year marks her fourth year walking with her pink-feathered friends, Viva Las Boobies! Flora has been involved with local non-profits since 2001 as a volunteer, development officer, and board member. She understands the importance of merging corporations and small businesses with important community causes. Flora hopes to continue being an advocate for the many underinsured or uninsured women and men who don’t have the funds or the knowledge about the local breast cancer programs available such as free diagnostic mammograms and surgeries to meal delivery, child care and temporary financial aid. Flora is proud to be a part of the Komen family and would like to see a world without breast cancer and wholeheartedly believes that Komen’s work is helping us get closer to a cure.
