Doreen Prager is the new Events Manager for Susan G. Komen San Diego. Doreen brings over 20 years of experience helping grow and connect various parts of San Diego’s non-profit communities through a sense of compassion and purpose. Across the industries of education, religious institutions, and women’s activism, Doreen has successfully led fundraising campaigns, negotiated sponsorships, coordinated dozens and dozens of events, large and small, and created high-end marketing materials that have helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars in charitable donations and integrated hundreds of volunteers. Doreen’s diverse background helps her see the challenges modern non-profits face from multiple angles — prior to Susan G. Komen, Doreen held managerial and functional positions where she created programming for members of all ages and walks of life. Most exciting to Doreen is her efforts in helping create and sustain passionate communities who share a common vision.
Doreen compliments her professional experience with classes she has taken in event planning and fundraising. She has held board appointments and is currently a support group leader and a teacher for a local non-profit that specializes in helping support families struggling with loved-ones with the emotional toll of physical and mental illnesses.
A native to Southern California and proud mother of two, Doreen’s personal connection with Susan G. Komen has spanned across several generations within her family. Her grandmother and great-aunt succumbed to breast cancer and her sister is a thriving breast cancer survivor. Doreen advocates for all women in need.
Outside of work, you will find Doreen spending time with her children at farmers’ markets and local museums around San Diego and she always looking for a new way to celebrate her love for The Beatles!
