We are sold out! However, we could still use your help! This year guests will be asked to support Komen San Diego’s funded Mobile Mammography Coach. Every year we fund a mobile mammography coach to properly serve the women (and men) in communities throughout San Diego County. With this coach we have the ability to reach women where they live, work, pray and play. Over the past three years we’ve put together 141 mobile mammogram events and provided over 6,000 mammograms to uninsured or underinsured individuals. There are currently no other organizations in San Diego County providing the kinds of free services that Susan G. Komen San Diego does. Join the fight today by making a contribution, no amount is too small!
Now in its third year, this one-of-a-kind event brings together leading cancer and wellness experts to share the latest innovations in breast cancer research, treatment and holistic well-being. It’s a casual, engaging, and upbeat evening where everything—including good food—is on the table.
Joan Lunden will be moderating the event. Lunden is an award-winning journalist, bestselling author, motivational speaker, and women’s health & wellness advocate. Lunden has been a trusted voice in American homes for more than 30 years. For nearly two decades, Lunden greeted viewers each morning on Good Morning America bringing insight to the day’s top stories.
Gina Champion-Cain, local business woman and entrepreneur behind LuvSurf brands, The Patio Restaurant Group and more, is the 2017 Honorary Chair.
Dr. Deborah Rhodes, a Komen scholar, will be the featured speaker. Dr. Rhodes and her team at the Mayo Clinic, where she is also an Associate Professor of Medicine, used a bit of ingenuity and duct tape (yes, duct tape!) to develop and study a new breast cancer screening tool called Molecular Breast Imaging (MBI). She has recently been in the national media spotlight about this technology and did an amazing TED Talk: https://www.ted.com/talks/deborah_rhodes.
Dr. Dennis Holmes will share his expertise as a noted leader in breast cancer management. He is sought-after authority on breast cancer surgery, cryoablation (tumor freezing), and radiation therapy.
The details are coming together for a very exciting and informative evening. March 16 may seem far off but it really is right around the corner—so please reserve your tickets now as this is a sold out event each year.

In June of 2014, Lunden was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer, which required chemotherapy, surgery, and radiation. An eternal optimist, Lunden wanted to turn her diagnosis into an opportunity to help others. She blogged throughout her cancer treatment and wrote a memoir Had I Known, which documents her battle, and reflects on her life and career.
