San Diego County Credit Union (SDCCU®), San Diego’s largest locally-owned financial institution, was a proud sponsor of Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure, which drew more than 20,000 people to San Diego’s beautiful Balboa Park on Nov. 3, and collected more than $1.3 million for the County’s largest program of free breast cancer treatments, services and support.

“We are proud to support this cause because we know that there is an increasing number of uninsured and under-insured women in San Diego, and the need for breast health services is growing larger every day,” said San Diego County Credit Union president & CEO Teresa Halleck.

Over the past 18 years, the Race for the Cure has raised nearly $12 million to help uninsured women and their families who have nowhere to turn when breast cancer strikes. In addition to funding the County’s largest program of free breast cancer treatments, services and support, Komen is also the largest funder of breast cancer research in the world, next to the United States government.
