13 May 66 Women Receive Free Breast Health Screenings At Padres’ “Park in the Park”
The rain didn’t stop Susan G. Komen San Diego’s free breast health screening event at Petco Park on Saturday.
66 women received a free mammogram and clinical breast exam who would not have had access to them otherwise. Of these 66 women, 17 were diagnostic mammograms for women who had a symptom and 11 women were given referrals for additional diagnostic testing.
Komen San Diego would like to thank the San Diego Padres for hosting this event at Petco Park and being a proud advocate for breast health.
We would also like to thank the San Diego media for covering our event, the Padres’ Pad Squad, Komen volunteers, and our community health partners for making this event as success as it was.
Early detection saves lives. Komen San Diego is a staunch fighter for affordable access to care, and urges San Diegans to talk with their medical provider regarding the best breast cancer prevention and screening strategies for them.
