Soapy Joe’s Goes Above and Beyond Sponsorship for Susan G. Komen® San Diego

Many attendees at the Susan G. Komen San Diego Race for the Cure instantly recognize Soapy Joe’s. The San Diego car wash with 11 locations throughout the region has been supporting Komen as the Main Stage sponsor each year since 2016—and the company’s commitment to the cause runs much deeper.

“We know that breast cancer hits close to home in San Diego, where six women a day are diagnosed,” says Anthony Rodriguez, Community Manager at Soapy Joe’s. “Out of the many community events we sponsor, the Race for the Cure is where we have perhaps the most involvement. It’s a wonderful event and fundraiser.”

For all of October—Breast Cancer Awareness Month—leading up to the November race, Soapy Joe’s runs a parallel campaign to help bring awareness to Susan G. Komen’s bold goal of reducing the current number of breast cancer deaths by 50 percent in the U.S. by 2026. Customers visit for limited-edition pink air fresheners, and the company includes Komen in many of its marketing materials encouraging Race for the Cure donations directly through the Komen San Diego website.

Last year, Soapy Joe’s sponsored the “Survivor Bags” gifted to hundreds of breast cancer survivors. Many Soapy Joe’s team members participate in the day’s festivities, handing out countless freebies and prizes that contribute to the uplifting atmosphere. And who could forget Soapy Joe himself, featured in the mascot dance-off.
