A Third Party Event or Promotion is a fundraising activity coordinated by an individual, local business or organization who raises money for Susan G. Komen® San Diego. Third Party Events or Promotions can range from small to large and everything in between such as athletic tournaments or “shopping for the cure” and are excellent opportunities to raise awareness and funds for breast health services and research.

When a barrier to breast health care cannot be met through a community grant, Komen San Diego steps in to create new programs. We rely on the generous donations and support of our partners to make this happen. Please take a look at the programs below and contact us with any questions you may have or if you would like to explore becoming an important partner in the fight against breast cancer.
SAN DIEGO MOBILE MAMMMOGRAPHY COACH
Three out of five women in San Diego County report that they “don’t have time” for their annual mammogram. Transportation barriers also compound this problem. Komen San Diego identified the need for a mobile mammography effort in 2013 – and worked to create the solution. In 2015, with Community Health Imaging Center, the first mobile mammography coach was established. The coach is now operating 7 days a week – bringing mammography to the people who need it the most.
CIRCLE OF PROMISE
In San Diego, despite having lower breast cancer incidence rates, African American women’s’ mortality rates are 41 percent higher than their counterparts. The same research indicates that African American women are often diagnosed at later stages, sometimes with more aggressive forms of cancer and at younger ages. Komen San Diego is working to change this reality. We are conducting intensive peer-to-peer education where these women live, work, shop, pray or play. This effort allows Komen San Diego to bring education and medical services to a community where none exists.
CIRCLE OF INFLUENCE
The Circle of Influence is your opportunity to make a direct and substantial impact on breast cancer in San Diego. For more information as to giving levels or to become a member of the Circle of Influence please contact Meredith Hall-Chand at (858) 573-2760 x 103.
